People everywhere have leaned on heat and cold to reset the body and calm the mind for thousands of years. We build sauna the same way: a simple ritual that pulls you out of your head and back into the present, with the people you love.
Quality shows up in the details. We design deliberately, pairing traditional Finnish principles with modern materials, and let natural textures speak for themselves. We choose the most responsible materials and practices we can find, because these mountains deserve to be preserved for whoever comes after us. We build to last, with honest joinery and construction meant to hold up for decades. And none of it means much without the people it’s for, so we try to stay kind, respectful, and open, leaving room for everyone to grow.
Stephen found the power of hot and cold in Iceland nearly a decade ago, and he’s leaned on sauna and cold immersion ever since to shed stress, recover sore muscles, and step away from modern life. With a degree in Construction Management and twenty years across the trades, he builds things that last. Husband, father, backcountry ski guide, and cancer survivor, he knows firsthand what it gives back, physically and mentally.
Nick was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, roaming the woods around his dad’s sawmill. He learned the ways of wood from felling trees, splitting firewood, stacking lumber and still enjoys the smell of fresh cuts. Nick lived in Hawaii for nine years, surfing, diving and racing bikes. Since then Nick has worked in major residential remodels, a custom cabinet shop, landscaping, commercial construction and is happy to have found home with Earthborn in Bozeman. When he’s not scrutinizing details in the wood shop, you can find him riding/wrenching on mountain bikes, hunting for powder, chasing his toddler, camping out with the family, or just floating in the river.
Mason grew up in Walla Walla, Washington, before moving to Bozeman to attend Montana State University. There he studied architecture for two years before pivoting into Wildlife Ecology. With his design and construction experience, he appreciates and understands quality craftsmanship. Mason was drawn to Earthborn Nordic Saunas because of the emphasis on sustainable practices, the use of high-quality, non-toxic materials, as well as the great work atmosphere. Since working at Earthborn, he has fallen in love with saunas due to the extensive list of health benefits and one-of-a-kind experience they provide. In his free time, you may see him in the mountains searching for sustenance, frolicking on the trails, climbing, or relaxing by the water.
